About Us
Dr Pearlie W.W Tan, MBBS (Barts & The Royal London), MRCS (Edinburgh), MMed (National University of Singapore), Fellow of the Academy of Medicine Singapore (Plastic Surgery) is a senior Plastic Surgeon who up to the time of leaving for private practice, was Head of the Plastic, Reconstructive & Aesthetic Surgery Service in Sengkang General Hospital.After returning from London, Dr Pearlie completed Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Residency in Singapore General Hospital, having rotated through KK Women and Children’s Hospital, and National University Hospital.
Upon completion of Residency, Dr Pearlie was awarded the Singhealth HMDP fellowship to pursue additional specialized training in cranio-maxillofacial aesthetic and reconstructive surgery with world-renowned mentors at the Chang Gung Memorial Hospital, Taiwan. After completing her fellowship, she was subsequently asked to helm the Plastic, Reconstructive & Aesthetic Surgery Service at the then newly built Sengkang General Hospital.

During an interview by Singapore’s leading maternity brand Lovemère, Dr Pearlie was asked why she was inspired to train as a Plastic Surgeon.
“I’ve always been keenly aware of how one looks can affect the way one feels. I remember my mum telling me, once when I was a child, a mother pulled her child away from me and said “ don’t go near her, she’s diseased!”. My mum replied “she is not diseased, she has eczema.” That was back in the 80s. And we had this Guinness book of records in the house, inside were black-and-white pictures of the “Elephant man” and “Werewolf boy” which fascinated me yet I remember feeling sad that the way they looked made them objects of curiosity and shame. “Later, as a medical student on an elective in India, I encountered patients with cleft lip, cleft palate, and severe burn injuries for the first time. Witnessing how profoundly these conditions affected not only the patients but also their families made a lasting impression on me. It reinforced my awareness of how one’s appearance can affect their self-esteem and confidence— and inspired me to want to help people feel better about themselves.”
In particular with mummy makeovers, Dr. Pearlie — as a mother of two —understands and relates to the challenges women face with their bodies after pregnancy. She shares, "Many mothers feel guilty about investing in themselves. Even for me, I have to remind myself that by taking care of my own well-being, I’m setting an example for my children. They learn from me that self-care is not indulgence, but a form of self-love and self-respect."
Her expertise, wealth of experience, excellent track record of results combined with her friendly nature, has won Dr Pearlie a number of awards based on patient feed-back and reviews: “Singhealth Quality Service Award 2022”, “You Sparkle! Award 2021”, “Healthcare Humanity Award 2017” and “Service with a Heart 2015”. Having become a mentor herself to trainee Plastic Surgery Residents, from Resident feedback, she received the “Outstanding Faculty (Singhealth) Award in 2022”.
